Exempt Cayman Company
The most popular company type. Exempted companies allow for 100% foreign ownership and are not subject to any income, withholding or capital gains taxes in the Cayman Islands. There are no exchange controls in the Cayman Islands. This type of company cannot do business with the local Cayman market but can sell to the rest of the world.
Non-Resident Cayman Company
The best type of company for the purpose of property ownership in the Cayman Islands. Non-resident companies allow for 100% foreign ownership. Shareholders will not be subject to any income, withholding or capital gains taxes in the Cayman Islands with respect to their shares and dividends received on those shares, nor will they be subject to any estate or inheritance taxes in the Cayman Islands.
Special Economic Zone Cayman Company
Historically, in the offshore model companies from around the world registered an offshore virtual, or ‘shell’, company as part of their global tax mitigation strategy. But in today’s world with many major countries introducing tougher regulation, having a genuine offshore physical presence versus a ‘virtual’ one can be vitally important. By setting up an operational office in Cayman’s Special Economic Zone, you can carry out international business from Cayman, where you can legitimately earn 100% tax-exempt active business income on that business.
Ordinary Cayman Company
The best type of company for local businesses who sell to the local Cayman Islands market. Ordinary companies are not subject to any income, withholding or capital gains taxes in the Cayman Islands. Unless otherwise approved, these companies require 60% Caymanian ownership and a majority of Caymanian Directors.
